TJ's bloodwork wasn't bad. It still isn't normal, but it is pretty stable for TJ. For that everyone is happy.
His Liver Function is still elevated, but is trending down the last 2 times, it is much lower than it had been. But this is a number that they think is going to fluctuate because of the EBV disease he has. As his body continues to deal with this virus, hopefuly it will get the virus in check and this will go back to normal.
His postassium is a little high, so we have to careful about his foods, keep potassium high foods off his plate. Easier said than done, he loves his dairy! Unfortunately it's loaded with Potassium so we have to limit how many servings he has in a day.
His FK (his immuno-supressent) level was high, so they tweaked the dose a little and we go back this week for blood work to recheck this. But High lets us have some confidence that he isn't rejecting. We just don't want to keep it there, the PTLD tumors would come back.
His Immuno-Globin is still half of what is normal. Normal is 500+ he's in the 200's, this effects his ability to fight infection. They could give a blood product to supplement what his body is making, but he's doing well enough they don't want to give more blood products than they have to. They believe this is low because of the Retuxin, the chemo med, that they gave in Feb. They expected this number to come up, but so far it hasxn't with TJ.
So all in all, pretty good. All his numbers have been stable for the last month or so. As long as he's doing well at home they are content with what he's doing. It has been so much worse in the past.
On a really good note.... we have been weaning his Immodium dose. His diarrhea seems to be improving and we've gone from two doses a day to 1 a day to now evry other day. He's eating everything and anything! and his belly LOOKS GREAT!! This is a big deal to Mommy. His belly was always so poofy and blown up, distended. Since the Physical THerapy, his belly has flattened right out and is looking so good. It's such a relief for me to see. I hated seeing that belly all drum like sticking out.
He'll be eating good this Christmas and we are looking forward to spending time with family. TJ will ba able to play with his cousins and I'm looking forward to that nostalgic family Christmas, I'll be carrying Kleenex wherever we go.
It's such a joy to see him enjoying life, going through what we have makes me appreciate little things so much more. The meaning and emotions of holidays are so much stronger.
God Bless all of you,
Much Love,
Lori
